MATH REFLECTION
In the first few weeks of this year was a little challenging because everything was new, but then when the year went on it became easier and easier until it became a habit. We used Connected Math 2 this year. There are a lot of different units that we did, we did Bits and Pieces 1and 2, Covering and Surrounding, Shapes and Designs, Prime Time and the one we are currently on is How Likely is it. In each book there are four or five chapters, there are the same number of investigations in each book. There is homework almost every day. After we finish the investigations we do a reflection. A reflection is a few questions that reflects the chapter we are working on. We usually go to the computer lab or we will get laptops. We can usually have our friends help us but we have to keep the volume of our voices down. In our notebooks there are four pockets. The first one is for class work; it is all the work we do in class and if there is home work that we start in class. The second section is for homework it is where we hold all our homework. The third section is for assessments this is where all of our assessments go. The fourth pocket is for reference; this is when all of our important information goes and sometimes our math teachers will hand out sheets with information on it. All of the highlighted words in all of the books are in our vocabulary. When we are all finished with the book we hand in the vocabulary work written in our vocabulary notebook.
The book that I have chosen to write about is Bits and Pieces 1. It is about understanding fractions, decimals and percents. In each unit the first thing there is three questions that will give you an idea what the unit is about, it will refer to the unit. At the end of each unit it will say what is in the next unit, it will name the next topics. I like this book because we get to do hands on things and do experiments. I learned so many things for example; we have learned about benchmarks, decimals, denominators, equivalent fractions, fractions, improper fractions, mixed numbers, numerators, percents, we learned about ratio, rational numbers and unit fractions. Well that’s it, BYE!
